SawStop Expands Beyond the Table Saw with New Professional Bandsaw
New 14-inch bandsaw brings Sensic™ AcTIve Safety to a new category and marks the next chapter for the SawStop brand
ATLANTA, GEORGIA, Aug. 25, 2026 – For more than two decades, SawStop has changed what woodworkers expect from a table saw. Today, the company is taking the next step.
SawStop announced the 14-inch Professional Bandsaw, a new machine that brings SawStop’s commitment to safety, innovation, and quality to a new category of woodworking equipment.
The Professional Bandsaw features Sensic™ Active Safety, SawStop’s name for its family of technologies designed to detect and mitigate blade-contact injuries. Sensic builds on more than two decades of SawStop leadership in active safety, with technology engineered specifically for the mechanics and demands of different machines. In the Professional Bandsaw, Sensic detects contact between the blade and skin and stops the blade in milliseconds, helping reduce the risk of serious injury.
The Professional Bandsaw also marks a broader evolution for SawStop. Alongside the new machine, the company is introducing a refreshed visual identity, including a new logo, reflecting both the company SawStop has become and its ambitions for the future.
“For more than 20 years, SawStop has challenged expectations for what a table saw can be,” said SawStop CEO Ma Howard. “We believe we can bring that same mindset to more of the workshop. The Professional Bandsaw is a foundational step. It combines our experience in active safety with the performance, quality and thoughtful engineering people expect from SawStop. And it represents something bigger: our commitment to keep solving meaningful problems for woodworkers, wherever we believe we can make the workshop safer and better.”

Sensic Active Safety, Now on the Bandsaw
For more than two decades, SawStop has pioneered technology designed to reduce the risk of serious blade-contact injuries. That technology now has a name: Sensic Active Safety.
Sensic encompasses SawStop technologies that detect poten al blade-contact injuries and respond to help protect the user. The specific technology can differ by machine because the safety challenge, mechanics and operation of each machine are different.
For the Professional Bandsaw, SawStop engineers developed a Sensic implementation specifically for the bandsaw. The system detects contact between the blade and skin and stops the blade in milliseconds, helping reduce the risk of serious injury.
It is a new application of a longstanding SawStop commitment: protecting woodworkers without compromising the performance of the machine.
Built to Perform
The Professional Bandsaw was designed from the ground up to deliver the capability, precision, and thoughtful engineering serious woodworkers expect from SawStop:
- Best-in-class resaw capacity: A rigid, reinforced steel frame provides up to 14 inches of resaw capacity, the best among bandsaws with 14-inch wheels.
- Fast, straightforward blade changes: Thoughtful access and machine design make blade changes quick and easy.
- Tool-free blade guides: Eccentric ball-bearing guides allow precise, tool-free adjustments for fast setup and control.
- Superior dust collection: Dust is captured directly beneath the table, while two 4-inch dust ports and custom-fitted shrouds help keep dust out of the air and machine cabinet.
- Two power options: Choose between a 1.75 HP, 120V motor and a 3 HP, 230V motor to match the shop and the work.
- Large cast-iron table: The 16.9” x 21.8” table provides a rigid, stable work surface and tilts up to 45 degrees right and 9 degrees left. A removable insert plate and tilting fence beam provide easy access for blade changes.
- Versatile rip fence: A 5.5” tall HDPE fence face can be configured high or low, positioned on either side of the blade, and adjusted forward or back. Integrated adjustment also allows users to compensate for blade drift.
- Automatic electronic braking: When the start/stop paddle is pressed, the electronic brake brings the blade to a stop within two seconds.
The Next Chapter for SawStop
The Professional Bandsaw is more than a new machine. It marks the beginning of a broader chapter for SawStop.
For more than two decades, SawStop has built its reputation by combining safety, innovation and quality in ways that meaningfully improve the woodworking experience. Those principles remain unchanged. What is changing is where SawStop intends to apply them.
Alongside the Professional Bandsaw, SawStop is introducing a refreshed visual identity, including a new logo. The new identity reflects a brand built on its leadership in table saws and ready to bring the same problem-solving mindset to more of the workshop.
Safety. Innovation. Quality. These principles have defined SawStop from the beginning. They will define what comes next.
The SawStop 14-inch Professional Bandsaw is expected to be available in 2027 through SawStop dealers across the United States and Canada.
